The School of Biomedical Sciences is one of seven schools in the Faculty of Health Sciences at Curtin University. The Faculty is the largest of its kind in Australia, offering more than seventy courses, from two year Associate Degrees to Doctoral programs, to more than 6000 students in 2004.

The School is large, complex and diverse, with a high research / consultancy profile. It is involved in the education and training of medical and biomedical scientists and technicians across eight major disciplines - microbiology, biochemistry, molecular biology, immunology, haematology, diagnostic cytology, histopathology and human biology - each a field in its own right. It also provides service teaching programs in human biology and microbiology and is involved in the training of dental hygienists. Graduates from the School of Biomedical Sciences have a bright future. The School's reputation for excellence and now its international thrust means that it's graduates are judged very favourably in today's career markets. That same reputation is attracting a growing number of overseas students to Curtin's campuses, adding to the rich experience of university life.

The School currently has 34 Academic Staff and 35 Administrative and Professional Staff. There are ~450 equivalent full-time students of which nearly 5% percent are enrolled in postgraduate programs. In addition to its uniquely prepared graduates, the School has established an excellent record in research as based on all performance measures.
